Sports and sightseeing , excursions  fill most visitor's time, with a few shopping forays for good measure , or even a short cruise along the coast.

Cyprus also has a unique folklore and cuisine to discover. Attend a rousing village festival , see a display of Cypriot dancing or sample mezedes in a waterfront restaurant - the choice is yours on Aphrodite's island.

The safe, and warm waters around  Cyprus mean that water sports can be enjoyed all year round, making the island an ideal destination for those who enjoy swimming , sailing , yachting, surfing ,diving and water-skiing. Qualified instructors are available , if required , to teach these skills at all level.

Excellent public sand beaches are beautifully laid out with grass around them . Amenities include changing rooms ,bar , restaurants basket and volley ball courts ,and often sports equipment to hire. 

The unpolluted waters around Cyprus are perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling . Diving centers with facilities and instructions exists at Paphos , Coral Beach , Latchi and Ayia Napa . Several hotels near Limassol and Larnaca also offer diving possibilities.

Windsurfing and water skiing . You can practice these sports at public and hotel beaches during the warm season. 

Boating and sailing . You can hire a motor boat of your own or join an organized group for a day's motor-launch cruise off-shore.

Fishing

Amateur  anglers need no license for sport fishing at sea and boats with or without captains and equipment can be hired in many sea sides. Local fishermen go for red mullet, white bream , grouper and amberjack.

Hiking.

The best seasons are spring and autumn, but winter can be a good choice thanks to its mild temperatures. In  the Troodos mountain range there are numerous hiking trails winding through pine woods and vineyards offering a variety of vast panoramic views and scenery. Choose Cedar Valley , Caledonian falls - near Platres, Akamas area near Polis , Cape Greco near Ayia Napa .

Cycling

For those who prefer wheels to walking , the island can be discovered by cycling along many interesting trails , especially on the Akamas Peninsula and the hills of Troodos massif. Mountains Bikes for rental are available in all tourist resorts.

 

Golf

Golf enthusiasts can choose from two professional courses on the island: the Tsada Golf north of Paphos and The Secret Valley east of Paphos.
